Teaching plan of Module5

A Lesson in a Lab

ⅠTeaching contents:module 5, Book 1, Vocabulary and Speaking

Teaching aims:

1. To introduce some general science.

2. To learn some words related to the theme of this module.

3. To develop speaking ability by practicing saying the numbers, especially the fractions.

Teaching objects:Class7, Grade 1, Junior High

Important and difficult points:

1. Arouse the students’ interests and love in science.

2. Enable the students to know some elements about the chemistry lab.

3. Make the students know how to read the numbers.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1. Leading in: provide a video of numbers for Ss, let them watch it and then ask some questions.

Purpose: activate the interest of Ss and help them review the simple numbers what they have learnt during the middle school.

Step2. Presentation

Part1 The Cardinal Numerals(基数词):

(1)Let Ss look at three pairs of numbers and remember how we say them.

A.16    23      B. 223       809      C. 1,001     9,743

(2)Drill: Then help Ss to learn the expressions of more difficult numbers:

174,301     5,100,000      12,269,000      7,500,000,000 (3)Practice to check the Ss whether have got the new knowledge.

(4)Group work: let Ss find the mistake of each number

Prat2 The Ordinal Numerals (序数词):

(1)Provide a rule for Ss to help them fast and clearly review the change of the Ordinal Numerals:

基变序,有规律,词尾加上th。一二三,特殊记,词尾字母tdd。

八减 t,九减 e,f 要把 ve 替     Ty 把 y 变成 i,记住 th 前面有个 e

多位数词再来“重头”记!!!

(2)Make some examples for Ss to consolidate. (As they have learnt this in the middle school, thus, it’s enough for me to just remind them of it.)

Part3 The Fractions(分数):

(1)Give a picture to show some fractions, let Ss think about them and then teach them how to express them.

(2)Tell them some typical expressions of fractions.

(3)Drill: Raise a question to Ss: Can we describe the fractions into percentages?

(Purpose: lead-in the contents of percentages.)

(4)Practice: e.g.  1/4  A quarter is the same as 25 percent(25%).

Part4 The Decimals(小数):

(1)Give some decimals and then ask Ss to peak them into English and then teach them to say them.

(2)Summary the important points of the expressions of decimals.

Step3 Teaching games and practices

“Who is the lucky one?” means that there are nine questions, and nine of Ss will get the prize after them answer these questions correctly.

e.g.   1.4%

A. one point four percent      B. one point four percents

C. one point fourth percent

Step4 Consolidation and summary

Step5 Homework

1. Please finish the activity 4 on P43 and exercise 9 on P93.

2. Please preview the Part Ⅲ Reading and vocabulary.
